Unable to break through the French positions, the Germans quickly re-grouped and attempted to move around their right flank. French mobile forces countered the deployment with a move on their own. The tank-heavy forces clashed head-on in the Belgian countryside. |
Conclusion |

While the French armored cavalry stopped the German advance, they could not push the panzers back. The French had fought well in the battle for central Belgium, but none of it would matter as the Germans had found weak points in the line to the south. Soon First Army, including the Moroccans, was trying desperately to break contact and retreat to avoid encirclement. |
