Introduction |
---|
As the French First Army filed into its pre-planned positions behind the River Dyle, the German panzer forces erupted out of the Ardennes onto the Belgian plain. The elite 1st Moroccan Division had spent three years preparing and training for this very moment, and awaited the Germans with a great deal of confidence. Yet the Germans had extensive combat experience, while the Moroccans had none. |
Conclusion |
---|
With two years to prepare for the German assault, the French Army had issued potent new anti-tank weapons and brought its training standards up to the desired standard. But while the Moroccans had the steadiness to repel the panzers, this wasn’t true of every French unit |
