The story. Before dawn, on 6 June 1940, one battalion from 1.Gebirgs div clashed with French troops counterattacking, near Juvigny, north of Soissons. One French tank company (R35s) caused some casualties to the Germans advancing through the fields but AT guns and Stukas soon arrived to battle the tanks. Despite a spirited resistance, the French were pushed back. The game. I've got the Germans (mountaineers, good firepower, strong guys, artillery, AT guns & aircrafts); I used strategic movement to move faster on the main road and was the first to reach the hill on board 9. My opponent (French) moved slower and he got Legion étrangère troops (this is not right, historically !!) + FT17 old tanks (in place of R35s : eh, eh, that's better for me !!). I do think I was a bit pushy with that move : he had very good leaders and the legionnaires are strong too. The night was still very dark and we were stuck in several heavy assaults. I took the first casualties and was still stuck in assault at dawn except for one small company of mountaineers bypassing the main French forces to attack from the back. And then with visibility increasing, luck helped me several times with French casualties mounting and FT17 tanks dying from my AT guns long shots. The battle was a long one but fortune continued to bless me (oh that boxcars from a 37mm AT vs a FT17 !) and the French player abandoned on turn 26 (36 turns max). I guess he would have prefered to get R35 tanks !
