The Germans were subjected to accurate OBA fire as they advanced south to clear the 40m hill hexes on map 41, they tried to outflank the Soviet entrenchments, but the Soviets had brought up five batteries of 76.2mm guns, which took out a Brummbar platoon. Stubborn resistance (dice rolls) by the Soviets caused the Germans to achieve only one VC for a Soviet minor victory.
