The Italians set up a "best as could be expected" defense of the hill, but it was no match for the assault(s) of the Commonwealth forces. The initial assaults were in the Northern quadrant on the hill and comprised the armored portion of forces available. The Infantry and sundry foot forces attacked the South East quadrant of the hill to preclude the Italians from reinforcing the Northern flank. It worked!
