Scenario Af44001

This is very similar to the first scenario of Saipan 1944, but I didn't enjoy it as much. I think there is too much German artillery, it's out of proportion to the artillery allocation in every other PG scenario I've played. Since this is a purely hypothetical battle, this is a design choice and I think it hurts the scenario.

In my play, the Marines got ashore quickly at one end of the beach, quite far from where the German's were concentrated around the town. The first 2-3 game hours were devoted to overrunning the German entrenched outposts. Then the Marines concentrated for a massive push against the town. Casualties were lighter once the Germans stopped targeting their artillery on Marine stacks adjacent to their own forces, which had resulted in some significant friendly fire losses.

In the end the Marines achieved their objective with moderate casualties.
