Introduction

The arrival of another regiment of the Americal Division allowed the Americans to again take the offensive following the decisive battle of Guadalcanal and the destruction of the huge Japanese reinforcement convoy. General Sebree, the Americal's assistant division commander, took charge of the operation. He initially secured a line of departure that would allow him to maneuver his three regiments effectively. The advance began in earnest on the 21st.

Conclusion

The attack went nowhere. With time to dig in and to do so in strength, the Japanese defenders could not be budged. General Sebree ordered the attack continued on the 22nd.

Additional Notes

2 x sets of Guadalcanal are required to fill the Japanese Army units.

Elsenborn Ridge or Cassino '44 may be used for the U.S. units.

The Japanese had a strong line set up in front of both objectives behind the river feeding to Pojnt Cruz. The US did manage to a weak spot at the right end of the Japanese line. Being patient and using OBA and air to its fullest, the US made a patient assault at the end of the Japanese right. Fog of War was a significant factor, stopping the US from using quite a lot of artillery. However, as the US turned the Japanese right, the units released on turn 13 flooded the US left. From turn 14 on it was a giant jungle scrum. Th Japanese suffered very heavy losses and the US lost 13 steps. Both sides were within two hexes of the objectives, a draw.
