After the bloodshed of early August, German XVII Corps Command finally conceded that, given available resources, the woods near the villages of Bobrovski and Boboski were untenable. The defensive line therefore shifted west of the woods, where two dominating hills were located. Control of the new position was given to an Italian and a German battalion. After a couple of days of relative calm, at dawn on the 13th the Soviets attacked after an artillery barrage. |

The Soviet attack made gains, especially on the left side of the German defensive sector. Despite an Axis counterattack made with the help of the motorcycle company, the Soviets were beginning to infiltrate between the two battalions. The balance tipped in favor of Axis forces when a hastily-assembled scratch company arrived, composed of 6th Bersaglieri Regiment personnel. Eventually the Soviets were repulsed, but this was the last major action fought by Celere in the Serafimovich area. |
