Leyte 1944:

Scenario Preview, Part Two by Mike Bennighof, Ph.D. July 2020

Does anyone have, or know where I can find a larger image of the Leyte cover? With it I can put the Leyte in the library as an empty game. Then I can put the Vassal game package together. It wouldn't be jumping the release by very much, any Academy grad with 2 brain cells can already do this.
One thing I noticed from the daily content, is that Mike changes most of my historical text to his creative writing.

Peter, try 32nd Red Arrow Division Artwork in a search. I did a thumbnail search for you a little while ago and do believe I saw an similar picture in an image page of 32nd Div. artwork.

Or just take a picture of a set up of those green plastic men we all had when we were kids. Looks about right. Big Grin
I know what the art is. The title is Cuidado – Take Care, Bushmasters!, by H. Charles McBarron. It is of the 158th RCT. They were a Latino unit of the Arizona National Guard. They had been part of the 45th Infantry Div, before being transferred to the Pacific.

Anybody else get a notice today that Leyte had shipped? I did. We shall see.

Also noted was that Gates of Leningrad was shipped to me on 1/20/20!! Don't tempt me to fly out to Alabama!
I got my shipping notice 21-Aug and according to USPS it should arrive on 27-Aug.
Just got mine. Should be in the library and ready for entry tomorrow.
I received Leyte today and I am very impressed with what Mike did with my very old design. He rewrote most of the text, introductions & conclusion and did all the battle sections. So I must give him the credit!

There are a few missing scenarios, as this was a large package and I get carried away with writing too many scenarios but maybe someday I’ll be able to share  a few of them, as kind of a bonus to this supplement.

Leyte brings back the Japanese Paratroopers of many unit types from my very first design, Nihon Silk. One of the coolest scenarios in PG, or at least I think so. Also new to the counter mix are: Japanese RCN, Type 89 Tank and 90mm Mortar units. There are American new unit types as well like the Sherman Flame and the 4.2 Mortar, new to WWII PG but not Korean War PG. Also the LCI® Ship. Lots of interesting scenarios to play and great addition to the Saipan 1944 and Marianas 1944, not to mention one of the old Golden Journal: Equinox 2015: Armor on Saipan.

I have two newer designs I hope Mike won’t have to work so hard on, that look promising when he and AP get to them.
