No Leaders!!!!!

I seem to be having trouble getting my leaders to download in Vassel properly. About half of those leader files that I download come with all the pretty background stuff in them, but NO leader markers! (The fact that I get the background(s) in the files indicate that I am getting the file, but not the markers.) I absolutely cannot figure it out! Does ANYONE have an idea as to what is going on? I have exhausted my meager set of "fixes" and am at wits end. HELP!

If you start a solo game, what do you see?

We don't need to go back that far, when I set up (solo or on-line) all I get for about half of my loaded leader files is the aforementioned "bunting" (or background stuff) but NO "leader markers". When I try to put them into the set up, at any rate.

The system worked just fine for me up until you did the rework on the files (I guess that was about a couple of months ago). Then I began noticing that my Leaders were "missing" (but the files were there) in a couple of games. So, I deleted My files and started over with the ones that I needed for the game(s) I was playing. That's when I really noticed the missing "leaders". Maybe my question should be.... what did you change that might have caused this abnormality? (... and I'm NOT trying to blame anyone, just trying to find a cause and (perhaps) a cure.)

The only things I have done is to rename files to games in which they were reimplemented. For example, Battle of the Bulge leaders got renamed to Dragon's Teeth and Eastern Front Deluxe got renamed to Fire in the Steppe. I didn't change the extension ID's, so if you have an old game leader extension and a new game extension, there could be a problem. The other thing I did was to delete base images and put all the leader images on one layer (which is always active). This is to prevent 2 translucent layers being stacked when the leader is hidden (otherwise it is hard to read the numbers).

Have you got extensions like: 

• Australian Afrika Korps and Kokoda Campaign leaders?
  German or Soviet Eastern Front Deluxe and Fire in the Steppe leaders?
  German or Soviet Road to Berlin and Fire and Sword leaders?
  German or American Battle of the Bulge and Dragon's Teeth leaders?
  Japanese Guadalcanal and Kokoda Campaign leaders?
  Polish White Eagles and Deluge leaders?
  

Those are all the renames I can think of at the moment.

I dumped all the old files and started over and it ended up with the same files "missing" the leaders. Now THAT is frustrating! I asked T-Rex to send me a set of files that re so affected over e-mail. Just to test the case wherein it might be something in my computer..... and so it goes.

One other note, I've been doing all the updates with Vassal 3.7.8. If you are using something older, you should update.
