I have seen all four maps and they are just excellent, so of the best in PG ever!

I am sure with all those terrain types on Saipan, these were difficult maps to make! I mean: Ocean, grass, beach, open, light jungle, heavy jungle, bush, sugar-cane fields, city, town, village, road, trail, marsh, lake, cliff, mountain, hill, flat. Good thing we have the airfield & cave counters to move around. And I understand why we couldn't add the railroad terrain, as I guess it would be hard to keep the maps generic, also re-configuring them with RR tracks might look funny in some scenarios, not to mention they don't play a role in combat.

Keep in mind, they have a heavy Saipan flavor but are generic. If they had been historical, it would have taken about 20 maps! Smile
Jay, Will you use these map to create island hopping scenarios?

Wow, lots of terrain. Must be a lot of close quarters fighting. No long range tank shots here.

Still much more open than the Kokoda Trail maps! Smile
Looks like these maps, along with the moveable terrain feature (the caves) allow for an infinite number of DYO scenarios. What one needs is the equivalent of the DYO system for original Panzer Grenadier. The defender has a certain number of points for buying units and OBA, and the attacker has say double the points for purchasing assets. Once the point totals are established, each player rolls secretly to modify the points they have by a d10 percentages chart (this was the original PG DYO rules found in the scenario book). Defender sets up, then both sides have at it, with neither side knowing the other player's total force available.

I know we have a formation purchase system in place for PG, but the old system still has considerable value, especially for creating true fog of war.
Jay, are the same airfield counters in Nihon Silk? (I ordered the entire Townsend opus, so I haven't seen that supplement yet).
With only 1,000+ scenarios out there, I can see why DYO would be a top priority. Smile
