Dug-In - in Assault clarification

in 12.41 it refers to 'negative column modifiers for dug-in units' . . .

But on the Assault Chart - it only gives negative modifiers for 'entrenchment' - there is no specific reference to 'dug-in'

the only benefit i can find for dug-in is First Fire

Nope.  You are correct in thinking that there is no column modifier for entrenchment. The "help" only comes in on the direct fire and bombardment charts.

Actually there IS a -2 for attacking entrenched on the Assault chart. It os the very first modifier listed?... (unless i am reading it very wrong - which is possible)

there is no mention of 'dug-in' on that chart - but there is a mention of negative column modifiers in 12.41 - that's what is confusing me

Dug in only provides first fire. There are no column modifiers applicable to units in assault combat.
