Reinforcements dice rolls
Reinforcements dice rolls
I know some guys will disagree as some guys like the suspense but I never really like rolling dice for reinforcements, I just want them to come on at a certain turn.

I find the randomness interesting, but it does mess with plans. My opinion would be based on how fine tuned the scenario would be.

RE: Reinforcements dice rolls
On the question of these dice rolls....and possibly including things like variable Aircraft...
These things come/happen on a roll of the dice....

When should that dice be rolled?....
Should it be BEFORE any activations of the turn, maybe before the initiative?
Or, maybe any time the "benefactor" chooses during his turn---or up to the point he passes--then he can't roll any longer?

I don't recall any clarification as to when these rolls should happen...

I for one like the randomness of when they come....too much is known already in what is actually a chaotic information space....

I have always rolled for them at the start of the turn they are to arrive. Then they activate normally to enter, like any other activation.

I'm with cjsiam on this one. I rather like the inherent suspense in getting the reinforcements whenever the Gods of War so decree. Although, the lack of reinforcements in a timely manner may well cost me the scenario I am currently playing with one of my worthy opponents. Such is life.

As Chicago once sang "does anybody know what time it is? does anybody really care?". Same with reinforcement entry, they arrive when they arrive, adds spontaneity and makes it all more fun. My guess us that this is close to real life in WW2, when a relief column could get slowed by an unanticipated destroyed bridge, weather, an attack by jabos or a hundred other reasons we might conjure up.

Did someone already use the special artillery options of Eastern Front artillery (Book of Armament) to prevent reinforcements from entering the board ?

For me, it is not a matter of like or dislike.  If that is how the designer designed the scenario, then I'm good with it, either way works.

Maybe a compromise, for example, if I roll a 1-2 on the die they come on turn 2, if I roll a 3-4 on the die they come on turn 4, if I roll a 5-6 they come on turn 6. If using two dice, instead of one, this could be extended out even more.
