Guys,
Just received Liberation 1944 and set up the first scenario. I haven't played PG for a while so I brushed up on the rules again. I have a situation where some Brit infantry are advancing towards a town hex where an 88 AA gun is set up. The 88 has a line of sight to the Brit infantry, but I'm wondering if it can opportunity fire at them because it's a indirect fire/AT gun.
No it can't unfortunately
Tonto say: never, ever, leave an 88mm unprotected/unguarded.
Thanks for the quick reply. This first scenario really looks tough for the Brits!

Wrong !

In my ftf games, I am always Axis, whichever the nation .... so definitely UNFORTUNATELY ! Wink
I would not consider the 88mm's abilities not to be able to OP fire at the advancing British infantry unfortunate as it can wait until it's next activation and fire on them with a +1 shift for the 88's direct LOS. It's weakness is its ability to track soft targets as they move and this highlights this quit well. The will still have the ability to do some type of damage with equal firepower and modifiers.

The bigger weakness is any type of defense in an assault, there just isn't any. So as someone already pointed out, never leave them without some type of infantry defense.

The 88mm was mostly a direct fire weapon, where does it say it cannot fire opportunity fire? Huh
