I just recently received Burning Tigers (PB Edition) and with it GD Division at Kursk. The GD counters were a massive upgrade over the counters that came with Burning Tigers II. Is it supposed to be that way? The GD counters literally fell out of the Sprues and needed no clipping of the virtually invisible side nibs. The Burning Tigers counters will all have to be clipped. No matter how careful I tried to be approximately 20 German counters came apart and will require gluing. Interestingly no Russian counters separated. Anyone else have similar issues? Will all counters eventually be the same quality of GD counters?
Nearly everyone (with multiple game) and probably not.

The issue is multiple counter vendors, and printing and cutting methods. Fortunately, you are unlikely to see the laser-cut counters. What you will see over time are the shinies and the silkies, center and corner nibs, and various cardboard densities. The variety will be determined by age of the stock and APL's quest for better counters within the budget constraints.
Hey Peter, thanks for the reply. I got everything direct from Avalanche Press. On their website it states the counters that came with Burning Tigers (PB edition) “Kursk: Burning Tigers comes with four mapboards, plus 517 die-cut and silky-smooth playing pieces.”

Also, in my original post I stated that it was GD at Kursk that had the far superior counters. That’s wrong, it was 24 counters from Journal 49, Storm Division. Furthermore, the AP website states these 24 counters “They’re die-cut and silky-smooth, just like the fine pieces that come with Kursk: Burning Tigers.” The counters I received in the PB edition are not the same quality as the 24 Storm Division counters.

Do you think it’s possible to buy counters from AP for Burning Tigers (PB edition) that are the same quality as the Storm Division counters?

Nope. You would probably get the same counters you have now. That assumes APL would sell parts. They used to, many moons ago. There is the occasional mention of someday, but that someday does not seem to be on the horizon.

Your BT playbook edition might have come with older counters, possibly from the original printing back in 2014~.  One thing you will learn from AP is old boy does a great job of reselling old counters that he has leftover into "new games" or "playbooks", just to move the older counters out of inventory instead of trashing them.
Hey Chuck,

An excellent choice for your new PG-HQ avatar icon! Go Cats!

Happy trails,

Felipe

If that’s true, I’d say that’s too bad. Aesthetics matter to me, probably more than they should. If the counters I got in Burning Tigers (PB) are what comes with the other newer and soon to be available modules, I seriously doubt I’d buy anything else. Obviously counters are a matter of personal preference and I understand others like them well enough to keep buying games that contain them. I’m afraid that’s not me though.

Okay, let's put that thought on hold for the moment. The real question is, are you going to play the games you have? I see 3 other Okies in the player finder. None seem to be very close. Now that you have scenario books, Vassal becomes an option.

So what do you want to do?

Thanks for the reply. Oh, I’ve been playing with the games (Burning Tigers/Fall of France) + Extras that came with Burning Tigers. I think the system is an improvement over Panzerblitz/Panzer Leader. I got Panzer Grenadier because I was looking for something at that same scale but maybe more detailed without being overly complex. It is also apparent that historical research that goes into everything AP does is really impressive. So I’ll play the stuff I have. That’s not much of an issue.

That's good. I've known players who decide they don't like how the game looks, then bailout. I'm glad you are not one of them. Thumbs_up High_five
