I can see doing this at some point in the future. Now however, when we want to encourage use is not the time to add a potentially intimidating function.

could we potentially do a facebook style 'Like' button. I think that would more be keeping with the spirit of the forum. I certainly have no intention of sending a 'thumbs down' to anyone. not sure if the 'Like' buttonis possible but its an idea.

No, it is too much open to abuse. One can give rep directly to the poster and that is private and fine.

I like this as well, BC6. But I think most people don't realize this functionality is available. I'm considering writing a "what you can do in the forum besides post replies" article in a week or two to introduce the less obvious features.
