I see on the Facebook PG group that Larry Marak has died. While I never met Larry I felt I got to know him through this board. He was super active and always involved in the discussion.

Let's raise a toast to a PG fan who has moved on.
Depressing news. Larry was quite an enthusiast, not only this site, but PG in general. You could always expect him to hype whatever was coming up.
Requiescat in pace.

At the risk of suggesting work for others, perhaps a sort of PG-HQ In Memoriam might be added to the roster?

Thank you, Joe, for posting the news, albeit unwelcome.

Agree. I felt that I had gotten to know him through various posts, and we retired about the same time so there was a certain kinship there, as there is with all us PG enthusiasts. Both his enthusiasm and humor will be missed.
I think my next play has to be something from Land Cruisers; perhaps Scenario Four with the first appearance of Land Cruiser Marak.

Peace and comfort to all who miss him. Larry was definitely one of the good guys in the gaming community. Remember that as much as Larry was a PG booster, he was equally enthusiastic about other games as well. He spent a lot of time on the naval side of AP, posting frequently about the different War at Seas Series games.

He will be missed.
My condolences to his family. He was a cool guy and lived on the APL Naval Consim sites. So long, friend.

Craig M.
I am very sad about his death. We use communicate through personal emails, FB and messenger about most game and life subjects. I shared all my designs with him, even the unpublished ones, for his enjoyment and any feedback. The last one I sent him was Leyte while he was in the hospital. I’ll miss him. God Bless him and his family!
Always upbeat and encouraging, he will be sorely missed.
Land Cruisers has been put on sale at half price over at APL, as a tribute to Larry. Here is the blurb from the newsletter:
Quote:My friend Larry Marak passed away this week, following yet another heart surgery. He was a tremendous fan of everything we did here, in particular the Second Great War. I came close to closing Avalanche Press (the old company) in 2011; it was Larry who eventually talked me out of it. He instigated the Panzer Grenadier: Land Cruisers expansion; I’d drawn one as part of an April Fools’ thingy and he wanted to play with it. So I made it happen, including the Land Cruiser Marak (and his very own alternative-history persona in the background story).

So that everyone can have a Land Cruiser Marak to play with, we’ll put his favorite Avalanche Press book on sale until next Friday, at half price.
The irony of my announcing the sale is not lost on me.
Very sorry to hear this news. Larry was part of what made PG-HQ such a fun place to visit. I wish I could have met him in the flesh.

I support the idea of a site memoriam in some form. Let's have that discussion in PG-HQ Q&A though rather than here.
