Do leaders have to make the crossing roll to cross a Major River? If so, I take it they use foot. If not, do they go with a unit, any unit or a assigned to go with a particular one ... or can they simply just cross?

Note 5.72 explicitly states that "no unit may cross a major river at any spot other than a bridge or ford unless an ENG or via assistance of an ENG."
- a Leader could move with any unit it (the leader) activated that made its crossing number 5.0 & 5.72; 5.73.
- a Leader moving by himself would use foot movement rules to cross a major river (5.72. 5.73).
- Should the assisting ENG cross, a leader could cross with it (extension of first bullet).

Makes sense to me.
