Great discussions here. I'll out my friend: He is John Reynolds of Walnut,CA. Reynolds, a retired school teacher, gentleman and scholar, and has spent a life researching armor for his Friday night 1/2500 miniatures game. He has a library on armor that I've never seen before, and I'm a librarian. He probably has two rooms filled with books in German, Russian, and English. When I presented a scenario on a mini Prochokorvka he laughed and said it would be a slaughter, but with his 66 result table and charts made for each tank, a schematic of hit probability, tracking a Tiger was indeed possible. I always thought that even hitting the barrel or the tail pipe might be a freak hit causing serious damage.

OK,sorry I'm carrying on in the Rules section. Maybe we can twitch over to some other section.

Not to mention, shots can knock out treads, hit the engine exhaust, jam the turret, etc. all things that don't involve penetration, and still effectively put a tank out of action.
