Very cool, but you might consider making each terrain level removable since so many scenarios play funny games with the elevation lines.

Yep. I was thinking I'd put each map's 3d elements into a zip lock bag with that map number on it and I could take them out as needed. If I really get into it maybe I'll do the forest, towns, etc.
Went shopping for supplies today at Staples and Hobby Lobby. While HL had Krylon brand I didn't see the Acrylic spray so I ended up with this: http://s1284.photobucket.com/user/pinksc...8.jpg.html (the spray can).

Flats are the poor man's miniatures. Printed paper soldiers. You can get some at Junior General. You print them out, cut them out, glue them, and you have lots of little guys & vehicle you don't need to paint.
Wow, look at that. That could be fun, though I doubt I want to put the amount of work into it.

Could get really crowded with 3 units in a hex, transports and leaders.

My first diy units!

We're playing a Desert Rats battle and I needed some Italian trucks.

The one on the right has 2 coats of spray on it. I'm not sure if I like it or not.
Just a little darker. How does it look on the map?

Not bad. Seems like the unsprayed one is actually a bit too bright yellow.

They are made with black mat board. I wonder if that is what is causing the darkness.

They look okay on that part of the map however the contrast might be more noticeable on the lighter tint to the right.

If you use a gloss or semi-gloss over-spray, it will tend to make colors a bit darker.
I found some white mat board I want to try and see if it helps. I started making some of the black pieces (Fronto Russo and Black Sinister) on the black mat board and I'll see how those turn out.

I'll try to take a few pictures of the existing units on the lighter colored map. So demanding. Smile
