combining fire at different ranges
Consider a leader with a combat modifier of 1 combining direct fire from two hexes.  One hex is three distant from the target.  The other is four distant.  Does the -1 modifier for range apply?

RE: combining fire at different ranges
Yes. It would apply combined or not. The rule is to apply the worst modifier for the shot. this would make a difference at closer ranges. If combining fire with a stack/unit at a range of 2 and another at 3, there would be a -1 modifier because of the stack/unit at 3 hexes. If combining a stack/unit at a range of 1 and another at 2, you would not get the +2 modifier because of the stack/unit at 2 hexes.

Thanks, Peter.  It sounds like the same principle applies to bombardment fire when combining hexes and only a portion of the firing units have LOS.  Apply the worst modifier for this instance, too.
