Step loss from opportunity fire - asyncritus - 03-25-2023

If a unit suffers a step loss result from opportunity fire after moving into a hex containing another unit, does that other unit have to make an M2 morale check?

No. Opportunity fire results are specific to the moving unit being fired upon. If a leader is moving with that unit, they would be subject to an M2 check, as well as a leader loss check.

Important to announce if the leader is moving with any unit who MIGHT be subject to OppFire as that unit's movement starts.
If the "active" player does not announce, previous to the beginning of movement, the leader is NOT there...

As an aside-- strong advancing germans can often be "discombobulated" by hitting their moving infantry as they advance without their
leader. Oftimes a german player will move his first unit from a stack without the officer---that is the guy you want to hit because
those massive leader +1 or +2 for morale leader benefits won't be there until the leader later catches up with a following unit
....and if the leader is moving with the unit then his morale benefit will apply to the fire...making serious disruption/demoralization less probable...
