Hypothetical themes in PG - larry marak - 07-20-2012
Besides the upcoming supplement, which gold clubbers are not at liberty to post much about, there are a number of hypothetical themes in Pg. Which if any do you prefer?
1. The aftermath war, 1948-1950 early Nato v.s. the Soviet Union. 2 releases so far, Iron Curtain and Polish Steel 1948.
2. WW2 developed slightly differently, also 2 releases, Divisione Corrazata and DAK 44.
3. WW2 extends into 1946, represented by GrossDeutschland 1946 and Secret Weapons. (Hopefully Olympic and Coronet will join this series someday).
Which of these themes do you most like, and what new titles would you like to see?

There are also partial supplements in the war went differently category most of Iron Wolves meets this definition. Some of hopeless but not serious meets the criteria also, although it starts before the outbreak of general European war.
One supplement that would make sense for both historical and hypothetical venues would be a Greek front in the Aftermath war. There was a communist led civil war fought there historically, so obviously Greece would enter the cauldron. And we could finally maybe get Greek infantry, machine gun units, and officers

I just picked-up DAK 44 and want to give it a whirl once I'm done Cassino '44 (might as well keep it in the same year)!

I would go with an expansion called Patton Didn't Die, since he so famously wanted to push through Berlin right on to Moscow.

I was thinking that the title for this should have been Patton's Dream rather than nightmare.

Also, having read quite a lot about this famous man, I wonder if any of the scenarios have the Germans as Allies.
By my reckoning, these were about the only soldiers he liked by wars end (apart from his own boys of course)

From Dr. B's musings on Secret Weapons in the updated Valhalla posting, it sounds like the materials from Secret Weapons, as well as DAK 44, Divizion Corrazata, and GD 46 might all see rebirth as part of the "Long War" story arc, which will someday spread from the SWWAS system to Panzer Grenadier.
In the Long War, WW2 starts several years later, and Poland, which was (historically) an Axis ally in the dismembership of Czechoslovakia, remains an Axis ally for the dismembership of the Soviet Union. A crusade of all of Central Europe, combined with friction on the Manchoukoan border, brings about the fall of the communist regime in 1941. 1942 sees the fall of the low countries and France. The Long War starts after the fall of France. Should be interesting and difficult to chart technological progress, as the speed of change increases dramatically only after war has started.
