DiY requests. - larry marak - 02-24-2015

Hey Plloyd, how about some Paiute Warband counters for use with I.A. Chihuahua and to Hell with Spain? This is the centennial of the Bluff War fought in Utah between Navaho constables, Mormorn militia, and the U.S. cavalry on the one hand and the warriors of Chief Posey on the other.

What would they look like? How many? Isn't the entire force about 300, and not well armed? That only makes about 3 counters.

You get a thumbs up for that picture PY!

Cute, at least they always win, we have fun!

More seriously:

I think I need a better image for the soldiers. I was also thinking more of a sand/beige background. Need a better unit type than "warband".

Probably some variation on post 5. It a was combined Ute Paiute force. This campaign demonstrates why the Germans and Austrians weren't too concerned about American intervention over there.

I get the combined force idea, that is why I took an eagle like on the Paiute flag. I couldn't put much more on there because the rattles & stuff will fade or blur when the counter is shrunk to its correct size. Anyway, colors, images and values need to be defined.

One thing that concerns me, with counters representing 100ish troops per counter, is Infantry attacks an appropriate scale for this war? Of the 3 engagements I found, none had more than 100 guys on each side. Am I missing something here?

RE: DiY requests. - larry marak - 02-25-2015

Nope. An I.A. edition of the Bluff War would include an area map with about 20 locations (and a time scale of 2 days per turn) , a force of 15 cavalry counters, 3 Warbands, and each turn would begin with mutual plotted hidden deployment. Paiute goal would be to continue raiding (defined as being the only force in an area) as many turns as possible. U.S. objective would be to engage in assault whenever possible until all Warbands are eliminated.

Sounds sort of like "Morgan's a' Comin'!".

What should the individuals look like on these counters? Leadership counters? Combat & movement factors?

As long as we're wishing, how about scenarios & counters for the French-Thai War of 1940-41?
