custom Panzer Grenadier dice? - Shad - 07-02-2012
(for the truly silly)
Has anyone ever considered the idea of custom Panzer Grenadier dice?
Assuming the "one" face was customized with an icon, what would you put there?
PG doesn't really have a logo to speak of.
I could imagine using the silhouette of a single INF guy from a counter, since they appear in every game...
Or an AFV?
Might be a fun group project!

Nationality colored dice would be cool to use for the initiative roll. They could have national symbols for the one pip. I usually use colored dice this way and roll both together in the dice cup.

And of course, while we never saw custom Panzer Grenadier dice, we came THAT close to seeing Infantry Attacks dice. Mike had a manufacturer lined up to supply iron dice for a Western Front title called The Iron Dice of War. Think how sore our hands would have become throwing iron dice!
Speaking of which, the Western Front is coming.......

I have a 4" d6 on my desk made of marble. If I could manage a pair, I might use them for gaming, but I'd have to roll on a well carpeted floor. Wife got it for me for Christmas as a joke one year. The topic though makes me think about some of the Flames of War dice sets that might fit. I'll have to check those out again. The manufacturer changed them around when customers complained that the logo should be on the high roll end instead of as a 1, so they are a bit odd to get used to.

You're right Shad for the truly silly, I won some custom dice for ASL a while back have never used them. I just use red dice for the the valiant Soviets and black dice for the Nazis when rolling initiative nothing silly about than then.

Back in 2012 when I posted this idea I went as far as talking to some dice manufacturers here in China. It's super easy to make custom dice here. The tricky part is getting them into our members' hands at a non-exorbitant cost. Individually mailing from China is right now. Bringing a case to the States and another to the EU and having volunteers distribute them from there would work, but it's a lot of cost for very little benefit.
As Wayne said... they're just dice. They'd probably end up in a lot of people's drawers. (not the kind you wear! ;-) )

I've long since forgotten, but it's incredibly cheap. If you propose some requirements I can get a free estimate:
- how many faces on the die?
- how many faces will be customized? (non-numeric)
- how large (mm) is the die?
- inset graphics & pips or flat?
- mono-color graphics or multi-colored?
- solid color dice material or something fancy?
- rounded corners or pointy?
- how many dice? (round to the nearest 100 probably)

The guy I play with FtF uses the Flames of War dice.
