A lot of the old supplements has unit organization "wire diagrams" in them. I suspect they were just filler, as Dr. B has said that he won't be bringing them back in updates of old supplements or new supplements. I have always liked them as a way of seeing how the PG units fit into the bigger picture, and never thought they were worthless. I'm curious what others thought, hence this poll.
I have made a few myself.
I loved them as well; but I love Modified Tables of Organization and Equipment (MTOE) / Orders of Battle (ORBATs). It helps one understand a little better why armies fought like they did. Besides I think it helps folks interested in designing future games.
I find them interesting to look at, and the context it gives at a glance is valuable, but page space is limited in the printed books and I'd rather have more game content. Wire Diagrams and whatnot are great as daily content material.
I hated them personally; I thought they were fillers used when AvP ran out of material.
To the contrary, I found the wire diagrams more interesting than much of the (diatribe) text.
Maybe posting them here on the HQ in either their own section or the formations section would be an alternative.
There used to be a section on PG-HQ for wire diagrams, which was never developed. I was thinking of using them in my battalion cards project, sort of a random scenario generating system. Problem is that another project has filled up the time.
I once went though and grabbed all the wire diagrams I could find off AP's site. Not sure how many that is but I have them around.
